Use where you would chilli flakes, Aleppo chilli or red pepper flakes. Blend with butter, melt over meats or use to spice up garlic bread. Use it to top avocado or eggs, mix into butter, stir into olive oil. Definitely one for lovers of a chilli hit.

Although now famous for his fabulous restaurants and cookbooks, Ottolenghi began in a small shop in Notting Hill in 2002. Ottolenghi has developed a style of food which is rooted in Middle Eastern and Mediterranean traditions, but which also draws in diverse influences and ingredients from around the world. He is all about the creation of a meal which is full of colour, flavour, bounty and joy. Smoking, aging, infusing, browning—these are some of the ways he draws out and intensifies flavour.
