Piment d’Espelette is produced with the Espelette pepper – a prized chilli pepper variety that is cultivated in the French commune of Espelette, in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques region, traditionally the northern territory of the Basque people. Sought after for its warming, sweet and fruity flavour and mild heat, it is a common ingredient in Basque cuisine. We love it with meat, fish, rice and more, but you can also present it at the table as a unique seasoning to be sprinkled on food.
