This gorgeous copper-plated Swissmar Biel Copper Fondue Set is the perfect way to host your own fondue dinner party. We love a fondue dinner party! It’s another fine example of casual communal feasting from Switzerland.
The Biel is particularly suited to meat fondues requiring hot oil and it can be used for cheese or chocolate as well. However for cheese and chocolate fondues consider the cast iron Sierra or the copper Lausanne fondue sets for best results. The specially shaped pot keeps your oil hot or your cheese and chocolate melted, and its shiny, hammered finish makes it a beautiful centrepiece on the table.
Tip: If using oil, the cooking oil should be heated in the metal fondue pot on top of the kitchen stove. The optimum temperature for frying the meat is 190ºC, although it can be cooked properly down to 182ºC. A deep-frying thermometer is an essential tool for telling when the oil has reached the frying temperature.
