Product Description
These capers in olive oil, or capperi sott’olio as the Italians call them, from Tabletop Grapes has been a real discovery. They’re like no capers we’ve tried before. We love them! Prepared according to an old Italian family recipe of the Gareffa family these capers are an authentic taste of Italy prepared right here in Australia. They make a great addition to all sorts of tomato or lettuce-based salads and pair brilliantly with fish, meat and pasta. Try them with bacon and eggs – the taste of the caper saturates and permeates through the eggs. Delicious!
about the producer
Tabletop Grapes was started by Gino and Elina Garreffa in 1972 when they bought their first property in Mildura, in far north-west Victoria. There, the abundant sunshine, rich red loam soil and irrigated water from the Murray River are perfect for growing premium plump grapes. Wanting dried fruit that was rich in its true, natural flavour, the family developed a unique method that produces exactly that, a premium tasting product that is 100% chemical free dried and delicious.
Nearly 50 years later, Tabletop Grapes is still owned by the Garreffa family and are proud multiple award-winning producers with their fruit recognised for its premium quality across the world.

Good flavour, but the capers are jammed into the jar and they tend to come out squashed. I guess they are trying to give you your money’s worth, but being packaged more loosely in salt or in vinegar works better. Sounds like a minor gripe, but It would put me off buying again.

Love these capers. Prefer them to the more usual preparation in vinegar.
