This gorgeous black salt from Cyprus is a blend of Mediterranean sea salt and activated charcoal. The salt is produced by evaporating sea salt under the Mediterranean sun. The brine is then brought to the boil to create pyramid shaped crystals of salt, leaving a sea salt soft and rich with mineral flavours. The Charcoal is sourced from volcanic charcoal on the Cyprian sea floor, created by ancient volcanic eruptions. It creates a sharp black colour and a unique, delicate mineral flavour as well as being a natural detoxifier.
Black salt can be used in any way that regular salt is used. We love to use it when the black colour contrasts with whatever it is served with. We especially love a little sprinkled over baby cucumbers sliced in half length-ways and served as an appetiser or palate cleanser. But it’s also sensational paired with pork, fish, eggplant, potatoes, sashimi, scallops, fruit, kale, buttered popcorn and avocado.
