The COVID-19 pandemic has certainly caused unprecedented disruption for people, families and businesses around the world. We sincerely hope that you and your loved ones are safe and well and weathering the current situation with good health and a positive outlook.

This update provides information on how The Culinary Club is currently operating. We will update it frequently.

Handling your order

Regular hand sanitisation is undertaken during the process of picking and packing your order which is only handled by one person. We are maintaining strictly limited interactions with others and are practising social distancing at all times. So far, this is working and we’re fortunate to be in good health.

Stage 4 Lockdown regulations in Melbourne are not affecting our ability to pack and send your orders. As an online supplier of mostly food items, we are permitted to continue operating. We are currently meeting our objective to dispatch orders placed before 12 noon (Melbourne time) the same business day, otherwise next business day if the order is placed after 12 noon or on the weekend.

Delivering your order

We use Australia Post for most deliveries, but but also use other courier services – Couriers Please and Fastway Couriers – to broaden our ability to get your parcel to you as quickly and efficiently as possible. As we are in Melbourne all couriers we use have been required to reduce staff by 10% in their parcel centres to meet Government Stage 4 Lockdown requirements. Our courier companies suggest that an extra day or two to normal transit times should be allowed for as a result. All courier companies are practising careful transaction protocols to minimise the risk to their staff and you. This includes social distancing, removing the need for a signature and parcels being left in a safe place if possible to do so. Express Post parcel delivery has improved significantly and many parcels are being delivered next business day to covered postcodes (if ordered before 12 noon).


We  have good stock levels of most products but there are some disruptions:

French Pantry Products –  Some of our French pantry ingredients are out of stock as we await new stock from France. This includes the Arnaud range of Terrines and the Lobster Bisque. It may be 4-5 months before this stock arrives due to shutdowns of production facilities in France over the past few months. Stocks of some Edmond Fallot mustards are running low but more stock is due in September.

French Laguiole Cutlery – We are out of stock of a number of items, as are all other retailers,  and have been advised by the importer that the next shipment will not be arriving until September. Use the Waitlist to be notified.

Le Creuset Wine Accessories – There has been a surge in demand for Le Creuset wine accessories leading to stock-outs of some items. Onshore stocks are good at the moment but resupply is slower than normal due to restricted staffing levels at the Le Creuset warehouse. We’ve increased our own stock levels and are shipping new stock in frequently to make sure you don’t miss out. Use the Waitlist to be notified.

Spanish Pantry Products –  Some of our Spanish products from the Basque region will be affected by a complete lockdown of regional borders there. This applies particularly to our Guindilla peppers. It may be some months before we receive new stock. Stocks of some CUCA canned seafood products are low or out of stock due to unusual demand, with the next shipment due in early September.

Paella Pans – we are out of stock of some Paella pans due to production slowdowns and shutdowns in Spain and shipping delays. We have sourced an alternative quality brand for the 34cm size. A new shipment is due in October. Use the Waitlist to be notified.

Italian Pantry Products – We have recently received a delivery of Italian products but a few specialty items are still in short supply. More shipments are expected over the next couple of months. Use the Waitlist to be notified.

As some of our suppliers primarily service the restaurant industry, which has completely dried up, they have significantly cut back on operating hours and staff resulting in longer-than-normal re-supply times. We have been working with them to increase our own stock levels but some items may take a little longer than normal to replenish if out of stock. Please be patient, we are working hard to resupply products as quickly as possible.
